The Prime Minister Jean Chrétien Museum, Canada and the World

The Prime Minister Jean Chrétien Museum: Canada in the world opened in June 2012, featuring a permanent exhibition inviting visitors to discover over 400 diplomatic gifts from around the world. Idéeclic worked with the museum to develop a series of interactive kiosks showcasing these gifts and collections.

The Prime Minister of Canada received numerous gifts during his of cial duties. These items, from around the world, were given during meetings and international events with other heads of State or government officials. Some were given to the Prime Minister while travelling across the country, and others by elected of cials, representatives of different organizations as well as by citizens.

As an introduction, a large glass interactive timeline is displayed to visitors. By simply touching a key date, a digital display is projected above the timeline, displaying archives from 1867 to 1992.

The Prime Minister Jean Chrétien Museum: Canada in the world and Amadei & Associates Inc. (museum concept) called upon Idéeclic’s expertise to design and implement a variety of multimedia stations found throughout the permanent gallery.

To offer visitors a rich experience, Idéeclic designed digital touchscreen interfaces around many topics. Using a simple and effective menu, visitors have access to photo galleries and information-rich content.

The diplomatic gifts are accompanied by a virtual catalogue presented on 10 touchscreens to identify each object, its purpose, its origin and the artist who created it. A highly visual menu provides a simple way to navigate and the technology allows for quick searches.

To provide a flexible interface that is also easy to update, Idéeclic implemented a Content Management System that manages both the platform and the content. This initiative will enable the museum to maintain the stations with little effort.
