Discover Quebec App

As a UNESCO Word heritage site, Old-Québec receives millions of visitors every year, many coming to explore the cobblestoned streets and 17th Century architecture. Part of the charm, however, comes from the present-day “vibe” created by the residents, shopkeepers and artisans who live and work there. Their stories - both historical and present day - are the driving force of life in Québec.

Québec City and la Chaire de recherche du Canada en patrimoine ethnologique at Université laval have set out to capture and disseminate this intangible heritage (stories, videos, photographes, etc.) through a geo-referenced mobile tour guide application called Discover Québec, built by idéeclic using the insitu solutions platform. This multiplatform (ios and android) mobile app allows them to create, edit and manage tours, present multimedia content and reach out to visitors and citizens.

Discover Québec provides a unique look into the lives of Québec residents through interviews, photographs and videos, while showcasing the history of the region. It acts as a tour guide, but also provides insight into the lives of those who live and work in the old city.
