Canadian Immigration Process

In 2011, Idéeclic worked with the team at the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 to update their online educational activity The Canadian Immigration Process. This activity was originally designed in 2003, using Flash. Since accessibility standards have changed a great deal, it was important to ensure the site met all of the new criteria.

The main challenge of the project was to create an activity that remained engaging and interactive without the use of Flash animation. This was achieved through the visual look of the site; a modern, attractive design that maintains the “quiz-style” interactivity of the original site. The goal of the activity, determining whether or not you would have been allowed into Canada, remains the same.

Players can access dozens of immigrant profiles and ship information files, giving them a true picture of how the immigration process worked. The site also contains a wealth of additional information, to assist teachers and educators in their classrooms.
